Book individual therapy

Individual therapy is useful when a difficulty has lasted longer than your usual ways of coping can manage. You may have read about it, tried to think differently, kept functioning for everyone else and still reached the same private conclusion: I should be able to handle this by now.

That conclusion usually hides the real pattern. Anxiety may be maintained by avoidance. Low motivation may be a symptom of depression rather than a failure of discipline. A repeated relationship problem may be protecting against rejection or shame. Advice aimed only at the visible symptom often stalls because it never reaches the function underneath it.

We begin with a detailed assessment of what is happening, how long it has been present, what you have tried and what keeps it active. The plan may include structured cognitive and behavioural work, emotional regulation, trauma informed work or a longer examination of attachment and relationship patterns. Culture, faith, migration and language are included when they shape the problem.

Change is reviewed in concrete terms. It may begin with fewer avoided situations, more regular sleep, a shorter period of distress after a trigger or a clearer boundary in one relationship. Long standing patterns usually take longer. The work continues only while it remains useful.

Who it helps

  • Adults and adolescents aged 13 to 70 noticing that something has shifted
  • People who have tried to manage on their own and want a more structured approach
  • Those in the middle of a transition involving work, family, migration, identity or loss
  • Anyone wanting to understand long-standing patterns rather than only manage symptoms

Common concerns

  • Anxiety and persistent worry
  • Low mood and depression
  • Stress and burnout
  • Trauma and its aftermath
  • Self-esteem and self-criticism
  • Emotional regulation
  • Grief and loss
  • Life transitions and personal growth

Treatment goals

  • Understand what maintains the difficulty, not only what triggered it
  • Build practical skills you can use between sessions
  • Reduce the intensity and frequency of distress
  • Restore a sense of choice in how you respond
  • Leave therapy with tools that remain yours

What to expect

  • A first session focused on listening and understanding your history and hopes
  • A shared formulation that gives a clear picture of what is happening and why
  • An agreed direction, reviewed openly as we go
  • No pressure to disclose more than you are ready to

Common questions

What clients have said

Honestly I almost cancelled the first session. I'm glad I didn't. He never rushed me and never made me feel like a case file.
Elena, individual therapy
I had been to two therapists before. This is the first time someone actually explained to me why my panic kept coming back, instead of just telling me to breathe.
Andrei, individual therapy
Being able to switch to Arabic when I got emotional made a huge difference. Some things I simply cannot say in English.
Nour, individual therapy
I came in burnt out and barely functioning. Six months later I still use the plan we made. Not magic, just steady work that made sense.
Lucas, individual therapy

Book couples therapy

Couples often arrive exhausted by an argument that has continued for years under different names. One person pushes to be heard. The other withdraws to stop things getting worse. Both leave feeling alone and increasingly certain that the other person is the problem.

Advice to communicate better rarely survives the next charged moment. It addresses the words but not the fear beneath them. Couples therapy slows the sequence down so we can identify the trigger, the meaning each partner gives it and the protective response that keeps inviting the same response back.

The work is structured and even handed. We assess the relationship history, current pressures, trust, closeness and the cycle that takes over. New responses are practised around real situations. Cultural expectations, faith, migration and family roles are included when they shape the conflict rather than treated as background detail.

The first change is often recognising the pattern earlier and repairing more quickly after conflict. Trust and intimacy usually take longer. Some couples rebuild the relationship. Others reach a clearer decision to separate. Therapy does not guarantee either outcome.

Who it helps

  • Partners caught in the same argument in different clothes
  • Couples navigating trust, distance, or a significant rupture
  • Partners facing a transition such as relocation, parenthood, illness or career change
  • Couples who are functioning but no longer feel close

Common concerns

  • Communication breakdown
  • Recurring conflict cycles
  • Trust and betrayal
  • Intimacy and connection
  • Cultural and family expectations
  • Parenting differences
  • Long-distance and relocation strain
  • Deciding whether to continue

Treatment goals

  • Name the pattern instead of blaming the person
  • Repair after conflict more quickly and more honestly
  • Rebuild trust in a way that is realistic, not performative
  • Make difficult decisions with clarity rather than exhaustion

What to expect

  • A joint first session, sometimes followed by a short individual meeting with each partner
  • Clear ground rules so both of you feel safe to speak
  • Practical work between sessions, agreed together
  • Neutrality: I hold the relationship, not one side of it

Common questions

What clients have said

We had the same fight for four years. After a few sessions we could finally see the pattern instead of blaming each other.
Ana and Radu, couples therapy
Neither of us ever felt ganged up on. That is the only reason we both kept showing up.
Layla and Tarek, couples therapy
We booked the first session to figure out how to separate. We are still together and, more importantly, we know how to repair after a bad week.
Marta and Julian, couples therapy
Two cultures, two families, one marriage. He understood both sides without taking sides, and our conversations at home changed because of it.
Hana and Stefan, couples therapy

Areas I work with in depth

Individual therapy covers a wide range of difficulties. These pages explain in detail how I work with the ones people ask about most, and couples therapy has its own page because the work is structured differently.

Still deciding which is right?

Book an initial session and we will work it out together, or send a question first. Either is fine.
